1. Definition of Tense: Tense indicates the time of an action or event. It is a form of a verb that shows the time of action.
2. Types of Tenses: Tenses are primarily divided into three categories:
A. Present Tense:
Simple Present: Expresses habitual actions or general truths.
Structure: Subject + Base form of verb (s/es)
Example: She walks to school.
Present Continuous: Describes an action that is currently happening.
Structure: Subject + am/is/are + Verb + ing
Example: She is walking to school.
Present Perfect: Indicates an action that has been completed at some point in the past but is relevant to the present.
Structure: Subject + has/have + Past Participle
Example: She has walked to school.
Present Perfect Continuous: Describes an action that started in the past and is still continuing.
Structure: Subject + has/have been + Verb + ing
Example: She has been walking to school for an hour.
B. Past Tense:
Simple Past: Indicates an action that was completed in the past.
Structure: Subject + Past form of verb
Example: She walked to school.
Past Continuous: Describes an action that was happening at a specific time in the past.
Structure: Subject + was/were + Verb + ing
Example: She was walking to school.
Past Perfect: Indicates an action that was completed before another action took place.
Structure: Subject + had + Past Participle
Example: She had walked to school before it started raining.
Past Perfect Continuous: Describes an action that was happening before another action in the past.
Structure: Subject + had been + Verb + ing

C. Future Tense:
Simple Future: Indicates an action that will happen in the future.
Structure: Subject + will/shall + Base form of verb
Example: She will walk to school.
Future Continuous: Describes an action that will be happening at a specific time in the future.
Structure: Subject + will/shall be + Verb + ing
Example: She will be walking to school at 8 AM.
Future Perfect: Indicates an action that will be completed before another action or time in the future.

3. Usage of Tenses:
Simple Tenses: Used for general statements of fact, habitual actions, and events.
Continuous Tenses: Emphasize the duration of an action.
Perfect Tenses: Show the completion of an action in relation to another action or time.
Perfect Continuous Tenses: Highlight the duration of an action up to another action or time.
